DUALITY by Sunny Hart
The Reverse Harem Vigilante Romance You've Been Waiting For
I DNF’d eight books this week.
This one? A bang. A hidden gem. A "wait, why isn’t anyone screaming about this?" kind of book.
Series: The Archers, Book 1 of 2- Book 2 yet to be released.
Trope: Reverse Harem, Secret Identity, Vigilante Justice, Boss/Assistant
Spice Level: 🔥(Slow burn)
Pages: 264
Published: August 19, 2025
QUICK VERDICT
THE PITCH: By day, Evelyn is an executive assistant. By night, she leads a vigilante organization. When a threat targets her bosses, her two worlds collide.
READ IF: You want action-packed reverse harem with a competent FMC, vigilante justice, and high stakes.
SKIP IF: You need immediate spice or can't handle slow-burn romance.
RATING: 4.5/5 stabby hearts
THE SETUP
Evelyn Harper lives a double life.
By day: She's the unassuming executive assistant to the Stone brothers and their best friend, running their security firm with ruthless efficiency.
By night: She leads the Archers, a vigilante organization that delivers justice when the legal system fails.
For years, she's kept these worlds completely separate. She uses intel from the security firm to save lives with the Archers. It's a perfect system.
Until a threat targets her bosses.
Now her two worlds are colliding, and Evelyn has to reveal her true identity to keep them alive. But when the four men discover her betrayal, will they let her help them—or will they turn her and her entire organization over to the corrupt system she fights against?
The men:
- The Stone Brothers (3 of them, running the security firm)
- Their Best Friend (the fourth......who knew her secret and hid it from his friends/bosses)
The vibe: Secret identity + vigilante justice + "holy shit my assistant is a badass" + slow-burn reverse harem with ACTION.
WHY THIS BOOK HOOKED ME IMMEDIATELY
The Double Life Setup Is Perfect
This premise grabbed me from page one.
Evelyn isn't just leading a double life for fun—she's weaponizing her access to a security firm to run a vigilante operation. The moral complexity. The risk. The constant tightrope walk between her two identities.
I needed to know when it would all blow up.
The Action Scenes Deliver
This isn't romance with occasional action sprinkled in. This is action-heavy reverse harem.
The vigilante missions are intense, satisfying, and high-stakes. When the Archers take down the worst of the worst, you feel it. The violence has weight. The consequences matter.
If you're tired of RH books that are 90% pining and 10% plot, Duality flips that ratio.
Evelyn Is Competent (And I Love That)
Evelyn is:
- Organized
- Sharp
- Capable of kicking ass
- Running TWO high-stakes operations simultaneously
She's not a doormat. She's not waiting to be rescued. She's the one doing the rescuing.
Yes, she frustrated me sometimes (more on that later), but overall, she's a FMC worth following.
The Stakes Stay High
Once the threat emerges and Evelyn's worlds start colliding, the tension never lets up.
Every chapter has momentum. The pacing is fast. The danger is real. You're not slogging through filler—you're racing toward the collision you know is coming.
The Vigilante Team Needs More Page Time (But They're Great)
The Archers—Evelyn's vigilante crew—are a highlight. I wanted MORE of them. They add depth, humor, and backup when shit hits the fan.
My only complaint: I wish they'd gotten even more scenes. They're too good to be background characters.
WHERE IT STUMBLES (Because I'm Honest)
Evelyn's Choices Frustrated Me Sometimes
Look, I get it. She's been living a double life for years, and secrets are hard.
But there were moments where her choices—especially her sass and attitude when the truth finally came out—made me want to shake her. The men deserved better explanations, and she sometimes made it harder than it needed to be. Although I can see it was maybe to show her walls and how she never lets anyone in.
Not a dealbreaker, but it added friction in ways that felt avoidable.
I Wanted More Individual Time With Each Guy
The four men have potential, but the chaos of the plot meant we didn't get enough quiet moments to really know them as individuals.
They blur together a bit in Book 1. I'm hoping Book 2 gives us more one-on-one development, because the foundation is there—it just needs more room to breathe.
The Slow Burn Is SLOW
This is a slow-burn romance. Like, genuinely slow.
If you need spice by chapter 5, this will frustrate you. The romance takes a backseat to the action and intrigue for most of the book.
But it works. Given everything happening, instalove would've felt ridiculous. The slow build makes sense.
Still, if you need heat early, be warned.

THE VERDICT ON DUALITY
Read it.
Is it perfect? No. Evelyn's choices frustrated me, and I wanted more time with each guy individually.
But the action is intense, the stakes are high, and the premise is SO GOOD. The vigilante angle sets it apart from every other contemporary RH out there.
The ending left me wanting Book 2 immediately, which is exactly what a first book should do.
Also: It's on Kindle Unlimited. You're risking nothing. Just read it.

Okay....you caught me, I LOVE Stella Brie.....but also she writes plot, romance, action, stakes, and development. All her books are worth a read or 2 or 3.
ABOUT THE ARCHERS SERIES
Duality is Book 1 of 2 (possibly 3—the description says "first book of three" but only 2 are listed).
Book 2 status: will be released February 17, 2026.
If you hate waiting for sequels, maybe wait until Book 2 drops. But honestly? The wait will be worth it.
